Formerly known as Methodist College, Methodist University is a private institution affiliated to the North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. It is located in a 617-acre campus in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and the University is one of the fastest growing institutions in the southeast, with twice its enrollment size since
1990. Methodist University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Methodist University was founded in 1956 as a coeducational liberal arts college as Methodist College. The name change from Methodist College to Methodist University became official in 2006. Currently, the University has an enrollment of around 2,400 students, which includes day students, enrollees in the Methodist University at Night
pogram, and graduate students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 15 to 1. Methodist University has a very diverse student population, with 41 states and 53 nations represented.
A wide range of academic programs are offered at Methodist University, including Accounting, Applied Exercise Science, Biology, Business Adminsitration, Computer Information Technology, Elementary Education, Entrepreneurship, Financial Economucs, Global Studies, Graphic Design, Health Care Administration, Justice Administration, Management, Mass Communications, Middle Grades Education, Music Education, Organizational Communication and Leadership, Political Science, Religion, Social Work, Sport Management, Theatre, Writing, and many more.
Methodist University also offers Graduate Study programs. Graduate studies available are Professional MBA, Master of Justice Administration, Master of Education, and Physician Assistant Studies. Faculty members in the Graduate Study programs are highly credentialed scholars in their fields of expertise.
The Department of Student Development and Services oversees the student experience at Methodist University, particularly housing and residence life, to make sure that living on campus provides a challenging and conducive environment. Residence hall staff are trained to counsel, provide information, and guide residents. Residence halls
are designed to be convenient and comfortable, and feature a Campus TV service with full High Definition TV channels without needing any cable television subscription.
The Health Center provides a range of basic health services to students on campus. Physician assistant and nursing services are available to students for free, and general health services provided include assessment and treatment of common illnesses, specialist and clinic referrals, laboratory facilities and tests for pregnancy, strep, etc.,
over-the-counter prescriptions, and health and wellness education programs.
Several recreation facilities are available to students on campus, such as the Berns Student Center. This facility houses the offices of many student services such as Residence Life, Student Government, Multicultural Affairs, and others. The Berns Student Center also has games such as XBox and Wii, ping pong and pool tables, and other recreation equipment. Starbucks, Chik-fil-A Express, The Wedge, P.O.D. Market, and Green and Gold Cafeteria are all housed at the Center as well.
Another student hangout is the Campus Ministry Center (Chris' House). Chris' House has a spacious living room and sports lounge where you can watch your favorite ballgames on a bigscreen HD TV, as well as a large outdoor deck for cookouts.
Fitness enthusiasts can head over to the Nimocks Fitness Center. This facility is open to all students, staff, and faculty members of Methodist University. The Nimocks Fitness Center has basketball and volleyball areas and equipment, as well as a variety of fitness training and cardiovascular equipment.
If outdoor adventures are more your thing, the CRIMP Outdoor Adventure program may be more to your
liking. This club is designed for students who are looking for various extra-curricular activities, such as skydiving, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, white water rafting, snowboarding, scuba, four-wheeling, skiing, fishing, camping, snorkeling, zip-lining, and a lot more.
